The Brigadier was played by Nicholas Courtney in 23 stories between 1968 and 1989. Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart was a Colonel in the Scots Guards in The Web of Fear (1968). In The Invasion (1968) he was a Brigadier and head of UNIT. He also worked with the Third, Fourth, Fifth and Seventh Doctors. Courtney reprised the role on television for the BBC Children in Need special Dimensions in Time (1993) and in the spin-offs Wartime (1987/1997) Downtime (1995) with other Doctor Who alumni. He also lent his voice to the BBC radio adventures The Paradise of Death (1993) and The Ghosts of N-Space (1996) with Jon Pertwee and Elisabeth Sladen. Courtney died in 2011.
