Doctor Who Magazine (1988-91)

Doctor Who Magazine is the world's longest running magazine based on a television series. It offers Doctor Who news, reviews, articles and comic stories. There are also occasional standalone publications. The magazine was born as Doctor Who Weekly, published by the UK branch of Marvel Comics.[1] After 43 issues, the magazine shifted to a monthly format and was re-titled Doctor Who - A Marvel Monthly, then Doctor Who Monthly, The Official Doctor Who Magazine, and then The Doctor Who Magazine before settling on Doctor Who Magazine at the end of 1985.[1] Doctor Who Magazine had continued with the neon-tube logo until the November 1987 issue when the logo was changed to reflect that used during the Sylvester McCoy era, which had just begun.[2] However, after four months the logo was reduced in size, with an oval shape placed behind it, which remained in use until the 169th issue in 1991.[4] From issue 164, the magazine moved from from a monthly magazine to being published every four weeks, which meant subscribers would now get 13 issues a year.[3]

After issue 169, Doctor Who Magazine continued but with another logo change, reverting back to the diamond logo text and more resembling the one used for Doctor Who Weekly.[4]
